Completely original and unmolested.
This car has had the same ownership for nearly 40 years and driven only sparingly.
It was (and still is) owned by a major figure in the British Car Industry, who retired to New Zealand about twelve years ago. He brought this car with him and it has not been registered or driven since then, although it was stored sympathetically in his basement garage.
Since being commissioned to sell this car we have overseen a completely mechanical and cosmetic renovation.
The paintwork, chrome and interior are totally immaculate and only needed a little TLC and detailing. The hard and soft tops are likewise in as-new condition. The quality of Mercedes engineering and construction of this era was outstanding and the car has responded perfectly.
The only hiccup was that it was stored with petrol in its tank, so the fuel system needed complete flushing and renovation. The fuel-related work included a brand new fuel pump of the correct type, replacement of all rubber fuel lines, flushing of the metal lines and overhauling of the injector pump.
After giving the engine a full service and oil change, it fired up quickly and cleanly and runs like a dream!
Other mechanical work included a complete service of the automatic transmission and replacement of some linkage bushes.
The car is among the very best original Pagoda Mercedes in the world and would be
an appreciating asset to the new owner.
