About Us - What We Do
Hi There! My name is Barrie Angliss and thanks for checking out my website.
If you're reading this you must be interested in old cars, like me. My whole life has revolved around these machines. I learned to drive at 16 years old on a Jaguar Mk I in 1967. I then spent much of my teenage and 20's years messing around with British sports cars, both in Australia and New Zealand.
I've owned a Bugeye Sprite, a Sunbeam Alpine (The wannabe version of Maxwell Smart's Tiger), Triumph TR2, TR3, TR4, TR4A and a TR5 which scared me to death - squatted on takeoff and ran up to 110 mph before engaging overdrive and then squatting again - far too much fun!
Anyway, let me establish my credentials - otherwise known as "skiting", but that's OK!

I am Australasia’s largest importer of Classic British cars. Over a period of several years under my company of Classic Connections Ltd I imported:
48 Jaguar XK's including three Alloy bodied cars 56 E-Types of all descriptions 78 Austin Healeys, 100/4, 100/6, BJ7 & BJ8 Plus dozens of others - an Aston Martin DB2, DB4, Lagonda DHC, various Triumphs and some weird stuff that seemed like a good idea at the time, even an Oldsmobile Tornado! In addition I have overseen and organized over twenty full restorations (mainly on Jaguar XK and E-Types) and at least fifty RHD conversions on Jags and Healeys. Some were re-exported to the USA to auctions and customers. |
I spent a number of years working for RM Auctions (now RMSothebys.com) as their British Sports Car specialist. My job was to buy and sell cars (RM Classic Cars), sell restorations (RM Restorations) and consign cars to their various auctions (RM Auctions) - this became 100% of my focus with RM.
Their premier auctions included Monterey CA, Amelia Island FL, Meadowbrook Detroit, Scottsdale AZ and New York. Other auctions included 6 monthly sales at Toronto and Detroit.
At one stage I was General Manager for the Newport Beach Classic Car Auction in Los Angeles. This was highly succesful and was purchased by Russo & Steele.
Great times and some great guys. Utterly exhausting but brilliant memories and experiences!

In the mid-2000's I was co-owner and General Manager of Tempero Coach & Motor Works in New Zealand.
Tempero's was (and still is) a small scale family business that hand crafts amazing reproductions of famous sports cars. Their range included C-Type, D-Type, XKSS, XJ13, Lightweight E-Type, Lister Jaguar, Aston Martin DBS, Ferrari GTO, Ferrari P4 and many others. Cars were also custom built or restored to customers' specifications.
All cars were based on donor car mechanicals with the bodies hand crafted from sheet aluminium, formed around wooden bucks - totally old school and quite amazing!
Unfortunately the NZ dollar went from 45c against the USD to around 65c, making their cars uneconomical in our main US market.
The company is still operating under Rod Tempero and is still producing some of the most stunning hand crafted cars in the world.
Like many Aussies and Kiwis, I am a total car nut, specializing in helping Australian and NZ owners and enthusiasts to buy and sell their classic vehicles worldwide.
